Playing a UX designer role, I had the opportunity to work on the Penha – Typographic Panorama project, which involved a comprehensive study of typography applied to commercial façades in the Penha region, on the east side of São Paulo in Brazil. The region is known for being one of the first shopping centres in the area and continues to be in operation to this day.
My role in the project was to lead the research and design process, which involved exploring each lane of the Penha region and capturing high-quality photographs of the commercial façades. I then carried out detailed analyses of each photograph, resulting in tables and graphs that reported the amount of the presence of upper/lower case, font style, confection materials, and support.
The main objective of the Penha – Typographic Panorama project was to gain insight into the typography used in the region and how it impacts the user experience for both visitors and business owners. By analysing the typography in this way, I was able to identify trends and patterns that could be used to enhance the overall user experience in the area.
Overall, the Penha – Typographic Panorama project was a fascinating and rewarding experience that allowed me to apply my skills as a UX designer to a real-world problem enhancing my skills as a designer.
